The tranquil location straight in front of lake Längsee is an open invitation for you to combine your seminar with some well-earned recreation. A historical setting, resonant – and deeply thought-provoking – surroundings as well as modern facilities create ideal conditions for a successful seminar, an interesting course of study, a memorable celebration and last but not least, a wonderful stay.
Hotel facilities
Hotel Stift St. Georgen forms the cultural and historical centre of an idyllic landscape. Steeped in tradition, the building is beautifully set among gentle hills, meadows, woodland and the romantic lake Längsee. Thanks to the subtle combination of a 4-star hotel and the hospitality of our staff, our guests are able to recover their strength and relax in a charming and tranquil location. All 67 rooms are furnished in Swiss stone pine from local woodland and feature an en-suite shower / WC, hairdryer, satellite TV as well as Internet access.
Dining facilities
Our kitchen brigade is delighted to prepare delicious fare based on locally sourced produce and ingredients. At lunchtimes and in the evenings you can choose from our highly varied buffet featuring soups, salads, meat, fish and vegetarian main courses with sides as well as a wide selection of desserts. For a special occasion we can easily prepare a gala menu, a themed buffet or a BBQ evening with a cosy open fire in the priory’s inner courtyard. Choose from a Carinthian or Italian evening, or “secrets from the priory kitchen”, etc. Prices available on request.
Wellness/Leisure facilities
Slow down and take it easy on walks through the 30,000 m² priory grounds. Here you’ll find a swirly herb spiral, an orchard, a labyrinth, a herb meadow, loungers and outdoor chess facili-ties, etc. Stift St. Georgen is an ideal starting point for excursions. We’re always pleased to assist you with tips and ideas for planning your leisure time when you’re over here.
Supporting programmes
ÖAMTC driving safety centre – one of Europe’s most modern driving safety centres is in the immediate vicinity (just 2 km away). Covering an area of 114,000 m², it certainly boasts an outstanding location! It doesn’t matter whether you’d like to test out a new model on the driving skills course, organise a go-kart race for your colleagues or friends, or learn to drive your vehicle to its limits safely away from the public highway. Quite simply, there are virtual-ly no limits to your imagination at the ÖAMTC driving safety centre.
Hochosterwitz Castle (about 3 km away) was first mentioned in historical records in 830. It is one of Carinthia’s pivotal emblems. As you’ll see, the castle’s defence work features 14 gates. The “knights’ museum” contains a collection of historical artefacts and the Kheven-hüller armoury. Gurk Cathedral features a crypt with 120 columns. “Dwarves’ Park” (Zwergenpark): some 1,200 dwarves can be found in a beautifully arranged set of gardens. Miniature railway, story-teller, find-and-seek, dwarf painting activities and children’s playground. Karl May Festival (in summer). Straßburg (about 25 km away): Straßburg Castle has both a museum with ethnological collec-tions and a hunting museum.
...and lots more besides.
